Incorporation In June of 1993, a group gathered to form what would become the Johnston (Station) Historical Society. Bob Otto was chair and called meetings from time to time. Consensus was that the group needed to incorporate formally. In April of 1994, through the efforts of attorney Charles Roberts, the society was incorporated under the laws of the State of Iowa. Bob Otto was elected president, Mary Jane Paez vice president, and Ray Schleihs secretary-treasurer; 14 Charter members signed the Incorporation Papers. Over time, customary meeting times, dates, and programs, were established, more or less in line with the stipulations in the by-laws and incorporation articles. In 1998, the organization settled on meetings alternating on 4th Sundays and Wednesdays, and a year beginning in January. The Annual meeting was to be held in April. |
